The objective of the ICM project was to provide an intranet-based application to collect accurate, consistent and audited information to calculate the inter-company margin (“ICMâ€) for management allocation, portfolio assessment and legal consolidation and reporting purposes.
The data submission to the corporate consolidation department is possible either manually or via upload files. The manual entries can only be done in an easy-to-use and validated environment in order to avoid invalid inputs. The flat file upload runs through a customisable validation process which ensures a high quality of data. These two possibilities of data entry meet the requirements of all local entities no matter if they have to provide large or small amounts of entries.
After having entered all relevant transactions, the tool offers several possibilities to validate and reconcile the information before it can be released for central processing and consolidation. The new ICM system is supposed to deliver reliable data and yet to be simple to implement, administer and utilize.
The system is organized around the following key characteristics:
- One unique process for legal and management needs (e.g. ICPII calculation).
- Focus on financial inter-company flows.
- Based on standard platforms and user-friendly tools, highly integrated with other existing corporate tools.
- A comprehensive user authorization concept ensures a secure process.
- Data collection and the responsibility of data quality stays locally, for all supply chain information, transfer prices and standard costs of goods.
- The storage, calculation and allocation is performed centrally.
- Simplify and speed up the process to reduce the workload and timeline (on local and corporate level).
In summary, the ICM system provides ICM data in a consistent, efficient and confidential manner within a strict timeframe.
